What a great day it was!
During the weekend of 11 and 12 October 2008 the town of Ledegem commemorated the 90th anniversary of the Liberation of Ledegem by the western allied forces of the 29th Division during WW1. Remembrance Ledegem is being developed as a record of those events and a focal point and information portal where it will be possible to learn about Ledegem during the period 1914 to 1918.
The first stage of the commemoration has now been completed and work is now underway to build the second stage, that of recording those events. We should have the second stage completed in about two weeks.
To read about the history of the WW1 events that gave rise to this commemoration you should visit the web site maintained by the Prince of Wales's Leinster Regiment Association and for Belgian and Dutch language the web site maintained by the Historical Society of Ledegem, HeemKring Liedengehem (Site is in Flemish language)
